Chief Operating Officer, CARB-X (Combating Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria Accelerator)

Diane M. MacDonald is the chief operating officer for CARB-X (Combating Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria Accelerator), a global partnership housed at Boston University dedicated to accelerating antibacterial research to tackle the global rising threat of drug-resistant bacteria. Diane was the interim CEO and the COO of the Forsyth Institute, a Harvard-affiliated research institute and oral public health program. Prior to this, she held the positions of CFO and COO for the Broad Institute, a genomics research institute formed in collaboration with Harvard and MIT. She previously was the director of finance and operations for Community Catalyst, and she served as budget director for the City of Boston. She is known for implementing successful management improvement efforts in both the public and non-profit sectors, developing performance-driven teams and management systems to tackle unique organizational challenges, and providing innovative financial analyses of public services.
