POSITION SUMMARY
Community Catalyst is looking for a Communications Associate to support the day-to-day activities of a growing communications team. Specifically, this person will help put systems in place for more internal collaboration and learning, with ample growth opportunities to deepen understanding about the role external communications plays in the broader health justice movement.
This position is included in a collective bargaining unit represented by a staff union, Community Catalyst United, and specific employment terms may be subject to a future Collective Bargaining Agreement.
SUPERVISION
The Communications Associate’s supervisor of record will be the Deputy Director of Communications. However, they will function as an integral part of the communications team, providing assistance to colleagues as needs arise
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with internal communications team processes around team management and communication, including webinars, meetings and scheduling
- Support communications team with development and posting of materials including social media, press releases, blogs and other associated communications content
- Monitor inbound media requests and support the development of briefing materials, scheduling, and other needs
- Conduct media scans and analysis of relevant articles, mentions of organization or partners
- Build and maintain media lists on topics relevant to the organization’s interests
- Help maintain web properties to ensure they stay up to date
- Provide technical assistance as needed to facilitate newsletter and other partner communications
- Perform related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field or one year of relevant work experience
- Ability to work either independently or collaboratively as needed
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility, creativity and ability to solve problems
- Commitment to race equity and health justice
- Pro-active work style with excellent follow-up and follow-through skills
- Team player
Preferred
- Experience developing and/or executing communications plans
- Experience supporting diverse teams
- Familiarity with Mailchimp, EveryAction and Wordpress
- Familiarity or experience with graphic design platforms like Adobe or Canva
- Familiarity with video and social media channels
BENEFITS & SALARY RANGE
- Salary Range: Annual $43,000-$49,000
- Location: Flexible/remote
