(BOSTON, MA) – In light of recent developments regarding the Build Back Better Act and as we look to the new year, Community Catalyst will continue to work hard alongside policymakers and advocates across the country to deliver critically-needed improvements in health care affordability, access and equity for every community across the country. The Build Back Better Act passed by the U.S. House includes essential investments that would advance health equity, expand access to health coverage, reduce health insurance premiums, strengthen home and community-based services for older adults and people with disabilities, drive down the cost of prescription drugs, and ensure health coverage for both pregnant people and individuals leaving incarceration.
Statement of Community Catalyst Executive Director Emily Stewart in response to developments regarding the Build Back Better Act:
“The Build Back Better Act makes critically needed investments to advance health equity and improve the well-being of all people across the nation. At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is worsening, investments in people’s health are more essential than ever. This bill would substantially reduce the cost of health coverage, expand access to health care for millions and provide much-needed relief to America’s families when they need it most.
“People across America are looking to policymakers to provide the security the Build Back Better Act delivers so they can stay healthy, prosper and thrive. Community Catalyst and our allies in the health advocacy movement are committed to continuing to push for President Biden’s Build Back Better Act, and we won’t stop fighting until this critical legislation reaches the president’s desk.”
