Generating Resources
Raising and appropriately allocating funds to support a campaign is critical to success. Funding is needed to support all aspects of a campaign - from communications to outreach and grassroots mobilization, to developing policy materials and paying for IT systems and needs. Fundraising is also a great opportunity to engage supporters. A campaign gives individuals, foundations and other donors an opportunity to fund something "concrete." Campaigns that seek to change city, county, state or national laws should collect sufficient unrestricted funds that can be used for lobbying, as foundations usually restrict use of their funds for this purpose.
